How can you make your building and processes more energy efficient? Depending on your business needs, there are many cost effective projects that will make your building and processes more energy efficient. Business owners across Tennessee are improving energy efficiency by:

  • Replacing worn and inefficient heating, ventilation and cooling systems
  • Upgrading lighting systems and controls
  • Adding insulation and energy efficient windows
  • Replacing old refrigeration units, motors and other plant process and manufacturing equipment with up-to-date, state-of-the-art equipment

How can the Small Business Energy Loan Program help you finance energy efficiency improvements?

If you own a for-profit business with fewer than 300 employees or have less than $3.5 million in annual gross receipts, you may qualify for loan assistance to identify, purchase and install energy efficiency-related measures in your buildings, physical plants and manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Free energy audit showing project costs and savings
  • A maximum of $300,000 for approved energy efficiency projects
  • 3% interest rate
  • Small businesses in "Main Street" or "3-Star" communities may qualify for interest-free loans
  • Loan term maximum 7 years

How can you participate in the Small Business Energy Loan Program?

The Small Business Energy Loan Program has a proven track record with loans to businesses from manufacturers to flower shops.

To apply for financing:

  • Request a free energy audit
  • Request a loan application package from TECD
  • Complete the application forms according to instructions
  • Submit the application package and energy audit to TECD for review
  • Obtain TECD approval prior to starting the project
